Meet Matt
Just to tell you a little bit about myself, the maker of our amazing sauces. This is how the last few years have changed the trajectory of my life in so many ways!!
For over 20 years, I’ve worked in skilled trades and for the last decade with the IBEW Detroit local, building a life through hard work, pressure, and perseverance. When I was laid off, uncertainty tried to shake me—but God had a greater plan. In that difficult season, I felt the Lord calling me to finally step out in faith, launch my business, and pursue pastoral college. After striving towards the goal and a lot of elbow grease, I graduated with flying colors, and Heat Street Detroit was officially born!
I’ve always loved bold flavor—especially spicy food and hot sauce—but my greatest passion will always be the Lord and encouraging people to keep pressing forward no matter the pressure.
Today, I wear many titles with pride: husband, father, business owner, grandpa… “Bubby.” Through every challenge, God has shown me that pressure doesn’t break you when your faith is rooted in Him; it prepares you for purpose. Rehabbing, revamping, and helping those lost to find their way! One bottle and one prayer at a time! God is doing great things through our Heat Street Detroit Sauce Co. fam!!!
The mission behind the sauce is to generate enough sales to change the lives of the needy, addicted, and afflicted. Supporting local missions and bringing much-needed resources with a kick of flavor and a fiery finish! Offering a safe haven and a soft resting place to learn how to live again! A place of growth, healing, and, of course, the love of Christ! So it is my hope that you will love our sauces and join us in the mission to truly bring change in a world that is lost.

Meet Angela
Hi, I'm Angela. My husband, Matt, and I are the co-founders of Heat Street Detroit. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit… I do not believe that we are meant to work 9-5 for 40+ years and then retire broke. The idea of a passive income and freedom of my time has always intrigued me. On the other hand, my husband is a really hard worker, but has never really seen himself owning a business.
Back in 2018, I went on a women’s retreat with a friend from a local church. I was at a point in my life where I was ready to see change in all areas. Halfway through the weekend retreat, we were given the opportunity to spend some quiet time alone. I ventured out into the woods with my bible and a notebook, looking for a quiet place, and came across a pavilion.
I spent some time interceding on behalf of my family. One of my prayer requests was that the Lord would give my husband a business concept. As I finished up my time of prayer, I felt the Lord impressing upon my heart that he was answering me.
The next day, upon returning home and shortly after walking in the door, my husband announced that he had an idea for a business concept! I laughed as I looked up and said something along the lines of: "That was quick!”
Matt loves hot sauce and envisioned a distribution company of ‘all things spicy’. He threw out a few names, one of which was Heat Street. I liked it, but told him we have to represent where we’re from by adding ‘Detroit’.
Heat Street Detroit was born.
Over the years, the vision changed from distributing ‘all things spicy’ to starting our own line of clean-label hot sauces. As much as my hubby loves hot sauce, he didn't appreciate all of the added preservatives, dyes, and fake ingredients.
But with the busyness of balancing life, work & raising a family, it felt overwhelming at best to launch a company. So the idea sat on the back burner, but continued to expand when we revisited the conversation.
In February of 2023, Matt was laid off from work. And felt impressed to begin the process of figuring out how to take Heat Street Detroit from a vision to a reality…. In January of 2024, we launched our business! And our story has just begun.
